Pisco earthquake

On 15 August 2007 an earthquake struck the Peruvian city of Pisco measuring 7.9 on the Richter scale. Over 500 people were killed and over a 1000 injured. It is thought that over 80% of buildings were flattened and over 56,000 families were left homeless. Y Care International joined together with partners from the global YMCA movement to provide emergency support and social development programmes in communities and schools affected by the earthquake.
