Village of hope

The Adiyan community has traditionally been a community dependent on begging for their survival.

Since the Tsunami struck south India in 2004, their lives have been transformed. They have been rehoused in Sellur village, a village of 900 homes built by the YMCA and other NGOs. A community centre has also been built and a skills training programme has been set up for women and young people to be able to earn a livelihood for themselves and their families.
