Middle East crisis emergency reponse. Y Care International's response to the emergency in Lebanon in August 2006.
Since Y Care International was founded we have supported communities in need at times of emergency.
The local knowledge of our partner YMCAs and their ability to mobilise quickly and effectively is invaluable in coordinating emergency responses. And through our partnership with ACT International we are able to respond to emergencies even if there is no YMCA operating close to the affected area.
Our work around the world to help people in emergencies has included:

Y Care International launched an emergency appeal in April 2006 for communities affected by the food crisis in East Africa
Y Care International responded to the earthquake that hit parts of Pakistan, India and Afghanistan on 8 October

Y Care International provided emergency assistance to its partner Liberia YMCA to help people displaced by the war
Y Care International worked through its partner ACT International to provide emergency relief to those affected by an earthquake in northern Afghanistan which left over 2000 people dead.
Y Care International launched an emergency appeal in response to a food crisis in southern Africa
Y Care International launched an appeal to assist the population of Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, following the eruption of Mount Nyiragongo
